Chennai: Tamil Nadu’s political atmosphere remains highly intense as discussions over government formation continue following the 2026 Assembly Election results. Thalapathy Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is actively engaging with alliance parties and independent MLAs to secure the required majority for forming the next government.
Sources indicate that Congress, IUML, Left parties, and several regional allies have extended support to TVK, strengthening the party’s claim in the race to form the government. Political observers say the developments could mark a major turning point in Tamil Nadu politics.
Meanwhile, AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran denied reports claiming his party officially backed TVK. He alleged that unauthorised documents regarding support letters were circulated and questioned the authenticity of certain materials shared online.
At the same time, emotional reactions from TVK supporters were witnessed across Tamil Nadu, with several cadres demanding immediate action from the Governor to invite Vijay to form the government. BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan appealed to supporters to maintain peace and avoid extreme protest activities.
AIADMK leaders, including Edappadi K Palaniswami, held internal consultations in Chennai while Congress MLAs continued strategic discussions amid the rapidly changing political scenario.
Political experts describe the current developments as one of the most dramatic government formation phases in recent Tamil Nadu political history, with TVK emerging as a major force challenging the traditional dominance of DMK and AIADMK.
