Congress Extends Support to TVK for Government Formation in Tamil Nadu

In a major post-election political development, the Indian National Congress has officially announced its support to Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) led by actor-turned-politician Vijay for forming the next government in Tamil Nadu.

According to the press release issued by Girish Chodankar, AICC In-Charge for Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, the people of Tamil Nadu — especially the youth — have delivered a strong mandate in favor of a secular, progressive, and welfare-oriented administration under the leadership of Mr. Vijay.

The Congress party stated that its support is conditional upon keeping communal forces away from the alliance and ensuring governance aligned with constitutional values, social justice, and inclusive development.

The announcement further highlighted that the alliance aims to revive the governance ideals associated with leaders such as Perunthalaivar Kamarajar, Thanthai Periyar, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

The statement also emphasized that the partnership between TVK and Congress is expected to continue beyond government formation and may extend into future elections including local body polls, Lok Sabha, and Rajya Sabha coordination.

This political move has triggered widespread discussion across Tamil Nadu’s political landscape, with supporters viewing it as a significant step toward a new power equation in the state.
